I have been exposed to AER in an academic and professional setting throughout my graduate career. As part of the requirements for the College Student Personnel program, I took a Statistics in Education and Research in Education course. These courses allowed me to “assess quantitative designs and analysis techniques, including factors that might lead to measurement problems, such as those relating to sampling, validity, and reliability” (ACPA & NASPA, 2010, p. 8).
Additionally, in my role advising the Student Alumni Connection and my role supervising the orientation leaders this summer, I had the opportunity to “construct basic surveys and other instruments with consultation” (ACPA & NASPA, 2010, p. 8). I am familiar with Qualtrics and CampusLabs, and have experience creating and administering assessments on these platforms. Below is an example of a survey I constructed through Qualtrics. I utilized the results from this assessment to address conflict within the group, and make suggestions to tweak certain aspects of training the next year.
